This photo, released by the Awashima Marine Park in Numazu, south of
Tokyo January 24, 2007, shows a frilled shark, rarely seen alive
because its natural habitat is 600 metres or more under the sea.
This primitive shark was caught and filmed at the Japanese marine
park after a call was received from a fisherman at a nearby port on
Sunday when he came across the odd-looking eel-like creature with a
mouthful of sharp teeth. (Awashima Marine Park/Reuters) |
